Sunsets in Sedona

This is my final post of our trip. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise on the red rock - it was beautiful. We also visited a couple 'vortex' spots. Sedona is known for their vortex's which essentially are energy fields. There are specific sites in which the vortex's are located and the type of energy they create vary from vortex to vortex. We stopped at one right near where we watched the sunset that was to have masculine energy. I thought this was great because it the description it included strengthening decision making skills, etc.. Well, I don't know that we should have stopped, because Julia must have gotten energized. As soon as we left the area she started with a very demanding command for MILK, followed by a loud growl (which she learned from playing with Rick and Lynn's puppy), but she definitely picked up on some masculine energy! The next morning we went to another vortex that was supposed to be the yin and yang of masculine and feminine energy - I'm hoping this helped counter the previous night's energy flow. ;)

The vortex spots are also known to have Juniper trees near by. Juniper trees respond to the vortex energy in a physical way by twisting their branches. There is a picture of Julia and I by a Juniper tree, and the last picture is also of a Juniper tree.

Saddling Up in Sedona

While the boys went out riding in the desert, Meggan and I (with Julia) decided on a last minute overnight to Sedona. Meg found a fabulous villa with a themed room. We stayed in the Western Room, the room was a hoot and completely western down to the water pump looking facets, lantern lighting, and swinging bar doors to enter the bathroom and shower. We even slept in a covered wagon. It was the first, and probably my only time we were welcomed into our room with fresh bread in our in-room bread maker! We enjoyed a fabulous three course breakfast in the morning, fresh cookies, etc. It was very nice. Below is a picture of Meggan enjoying her fresh bread. Her in the fabulous bathroom by a fake water pump, complete with a gas stove by the jacuzzi (very nice) and couple other pictures of the bedroom. It had a quaint little patio as well.

Dirt Biking and Four-Wheeling

Jeff and Josh spent some time dirt biking and four-wheeling in the desert. Here's a picture us and of Jeff and Josh on the dirt bike. Jeff was kind of a wimp (I was very happy about that) and went really slow. I guess it was a different story once he rented his 4-wheeler though. They had a blast but are very sore. Josh had a pretty large crash and got pretty banged up. Sounds like he's lucky to not have broke anything, although his ribs are pretty sore. I guess he thought it would be cool to pass Jeff while airborne, things didn't work out quite as planned.

More Phoenix

Just beyond Rick and Lynn's backyard were the foothills, so we enjoyed a few neighborhood hikes, including the beautiful sunrise (Julia was still on MI time on the mornings, so we were all up early). Another day we all went hiking up in the mountains. Here are a few pictures.

Vacation to Phoenix

We just got back from a fun trip to Phoenix to visit our friends, Josh and Meggan, and their parents. Thank you Rick and Lynn for letting us stay with you, we had a great time, it was great to see both of you as well!

We had a fabulous time, but now need to recouperate from our trip. Our 4 hour plane ride down went great, Julia was on our lap and she did awesome. The way back was another story. She had gotten sick the day before we left for home with a fever and even graced us with throwing up all over me and the back seat of the car. So needless to say, she did not do well on the flight home. At one point Jeff hid in the bathroom with her until she cried herself to sleep, then of course her ears hurt on the decent so she sporatically woke up to scream. Poor little thing. I also have a cold and can barely talk, Jeff got a slight version of this when we were down there but is now just really sore from four-wheeling in the desert with Josh.

The flight back wasn't a completely full flight and the guy in our row got to move to another seat. I bet he was thankful! Here's a picture of Julia and Jeff on the plane before take-off, the only time she actually sat in the seat.
